Coaching Philosophy

  • To coach a player up to being the best they can be. To identify the uniqueness of the player and push the strengths to new limits and minimize the effects of the player’s weakness. Test the limits of the player; go further, play longer, be stronger, play smarter.
  • To design meaningful high energy practice sessions that encourage risk taking. Practices that develop individual and team performance. Practice time that correlates to real game situations. Practice time that allows me to be available to individuals to encourage, educate, celebrate, and relate.
  • To coach the whole player, not just the physical training. To prepare the player for a match by explaining and demonstrating, not berating and dictating. The player needs to feel confident in their mental choices as well as their physical movement.
  • To stress this is a team sport and all individuals need to believe in the team and understand their current role. To challenge players to accept more responsibility and prepare them to handle more. To motivate players to be prepared for new situations and stimulate players who have minimal playing time.
  • To celebrate accomplishment and to prepare a player for life, not just a game. Nobody should just cruise through life.
